Career Path
From early projects to entrepreneurship
Tinkering with electronics, launching model rockets, and programming tic-tac-toe with my father are fond childhood memories of mine. The ability to introduce something into the world that previously never existed is rewarding and inspiring to me. Creating- by means of hardware, electronics, or programming has always been my favorite activity.
Early Experience
After taking programming classes throughout high school, I acquired an internship at Dulles Glass performing website development. It was a great experience, although the company had a poorly maintained code repository built on an outdated software stack. After a year of learning a significant amount, my learning became stagnant and I left the company to work on my own projects.
I built various projects, including:
- Mass email/text marketing software for businesses
- Machine learning project to draw a box around people's heads in an image
- Various website bots to aggregate data and purchase items online
During this time I learned the most cutting-edge software development technology and became proficient at website development.
Software Agency
In Spring 2020 during a gap semester from college, I started a software agency with Jaden, my friend from programming classes in high school. We achieved several milestones:
- Completed a contract to build a website and internal software for an investing firm
- Won a contract to rebuild Dulles Glass's outdated website with cutting-edge software
- Managed an e-commerce website doing millions in annual revenue
Together, we learned how to manage a large-scale project and implemented critical changes to the company's workflow:
- Set up weekly meetings with all team leads
- Coordinated tasks with Trello
- Required documentation for all APIs
- Refined UI/UX workflow for composable and extensible designs
Engineering Experience
Returning to college, I joined Terps Racing Baja- an engineering club that designs and builds an off-road race car. My achievements included:
- Designed and built a jig for the upper control arm suspension part
- Selected for training on the computer numerical control mill
- Gained hands-on manufacturing experience
Future Goals
The one consistency through my erratic recent years is that I am passionate about every aspect of technology. I have tried and failed at categorizing myself as just a software engineer, electrical engineer, or mechanical engineer. Through my unique combination of technical skills across disciplines alongside entrepreneurial and leadership qualities, I plan on:
- Pursuing interests in physics, programming, and engineering
- Starting a technology company combining hardware and software
- Innovating technology to truly embody the motto: "What Starts Here Changes the World"
